In efforts to alleviate labour shortages, the government plans to boost regional mobility and training, an economy ministry official said at a forum organised by the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry and National Trade Association. Budapest and Warsaw are in agreement that central Europe can become the engine of European growth, Péter Szijjártó, Hungary’s minister of foreign affairs and trade, said after meeting his Polish counterpart Witold Waszczykowski. Wages for unskilled workers will be raised by 15% and for skilled workers by 25% in 2017, according to Hungary's economy minister, Mihály Varga. He said that in 2018 the minimum wages will be increased by a further 8% and 12%, respectively.

The list of banned psychoactive drugs has been expanded with a 13 new items. Electronic cigarettes were grouped under ordinary cigarette regulations. As a result only licensed tobacco shops, the so-called kiosks, may sell them in the future. The law on air traffic was also modified authorising the police to levy fines for the illegal use of drones.
