A WWF Restoration Project In Hungary Brings Life Back To A Danube Island

WWF has successfully concluded its largest conservation project in Hungary which revitalised a 3 km long side arm and brought back the natural floodplain forest of Liberty Island on the Danube River. The project also contributes to securing drinking water for the citizens of Pecs and Mohacs and enhances opportunities for eco-friendly tourism and recreation in the area.
Four New Products Added To Hungaricum List

Tuesday's meeting of the Hungaricum Committee in Székesfehérvár saw the addition of four new products to the list of Hungaricums: the Csaba sausage, goose liver products, Tokaji Aszú wine and Béres Drops dietary supplement preparation. The Committee also came to a decision on the winning design for the Hungaricum trademark.

As Portfolio, the bilingual financial site, said today, “everybody was sitting on pins and needles” waiting for the cabinet decision on the fate of the loans issued in foreign currencies. However, it seems that the government wisely postponed the decision. So, for a while we will not know what kind of a solution the government will come up with.

In his pre-agenda speech in Parliament, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán declared that the biggest flood Hungary had ever experienced has left the country without causing any casualties or major damage, adding that through recent protection efforts along the flooding river Danube, the country has proved that it stands united and strong when people are needed on the dikes.
Government Spokesperson: A Thousand People Remain Evacuated In Hungary

Government Spokesperson András Giró-Szász announced that approximately one thousand people who have been evacuated remain in temporary accommodation, adding that two hundred people were able to return to their homes yesterday.
