Spectral Evidence (2013) - Angelin Preljocaj got his first taste of John Cage from a CD of a vocal composition he received from a friend. 'I always thought I knew Cage's works quite well,' explains the choreographer, who had already created several ballets to the experimental composer's music.

After two successful tragédies en musique, Jean-Philippe Rameau, the reformer of French grand opera, introduced an opéra-ballet entitled Les Indes galantes (The Amorous Indies). His interest had been piqued by the chief of an American Indian tribe and his five companions, who had presented their own dances at the Théâtre-Italien in Paris.

The ambivalent fascination, the complete openness and the fiery adoration that one or other figure from music history was able to inspire in the composer suggest that he was successfully reunited with the child in question.
