A Budapest court sentenced former Socialist Defence Minister Ferenc Juhász and his state secretary László Fapál to suspended prison terms for misappropriation of funds. The Budapest Capital Regional Court sentenced the former minister to a suspended prison term of two years for misappropriation of funds in allocating and selling a ministryowned apartment to Fapál in 2005- 2006.

The tax authority NAV announced that it will check whether landlords are paying taxes on accommodation offered via airbnb and other popular holiday rental sites. Tax officials will rent rooms and apartments as part of the investigation. The number of places available for rent in Budapest via airbnb has shot up from 1,500 last December to 7,000 today.

The building, originally constructed as a hotel for members of the Communist-era National Council of Trade Unions (SZOT) in 1971, was demolished in the early 1990s.
