Last year, 9,056 bicycles were stolen in Hungary, daily Magyar Idok said on Thursday, citing data from the National Police Headquarters (ORFK). The number includes only those bicycles with a value over 50,000 forints (EUR 159), as the police do not keep statistics on the theft of cheaper bicycles, the paper said.

Research institute Kopint-Tárki on Tuesday said it lowered its GDP growth projections for Hungary for this year and next to 2.2 percent and 2.7 percent, respectively, because of the slower-than-expected recovery and downside risk posed by the UK’s decision to leave the EU. Earlier, Kopint-Tárki had projected GDP growth of 2.4 percent for 2016 and 2.9 percent for 2017.

In May 2016, the number of nights spent by international tourists increased by 2.2% and the number of nights spent by domestic tourists fell by 0.4% compared to a year earlier. The gross revenues – calculated at current prices – of accommodation establishments rose by 5.1%.
