Attorneys Are Being Snooped On Like It’s No One’s Business

Panic spread among Budapest lawyers last year when it was reported that law offices were being surveilled. It was not clear who was doing the snooping but the state’s security apparatus (which includes the police, Constitutional Protection Office and even Counter Terrorism Centre TEK) couldn’t be ruled out.

The head of Parliament’s storeroom is accused of stealing 90 computer devices, including seven brand new laptops belonging to Fidesz from Parliament and the MPs office building, website Átlátszó reported on Tuesday. Police found one of the laptops advertised on the internet and found the suspect through the seller.

Hungary’s parliament should provide guarantees that it would not make substantive changes to rules governing retail activities on Sunday for three years, the head of the opposition Socialists said. József Tóbiás said that if a referendum had decided whether shops should be allowed to open on a Sunday, the resulting law could not be changed for three years.
