Upgrade Of Major Tram Line In Budapest Completed

The upgrade of tram line No. 1, has been completed and the trams will again transport passengers from Bécsi út across Árpád híd and along Hungária körút to Rákóczi híd, the former Lágymányosi híd, from today.

Traffic changes will be made in public transport service and on roads and Danube bridges on the eve and the day of St. Stephen’s Day (Tuesday, 19 August and Wednesday, 20 August 2014). Already on 19 August 2014, traffic restrictions will be in place at several locations in the city due to preparations for the celebrations, therefore some public transport lines will run on modified routes.

The purpose of Budapest Card, the capital’s only official city card, is to help visitors and tourists enjoy an eventful stay in the city and at the same time promote to them Budapest’s rich and diverse culture. The Budapest Card has been present on the capital’s tourism market since 1997, and since its introduction more than 1,000,000 cards have been sold.
