Pál Schmitt, Former President of Hungary, International Olympic Committee Member

Born 13 May 1942, he was a successful fencer in his youth, going on to win two Olympic gold medals. Later he became a politician, and served as President of Hungary from 2010 until his resignation in 2012. Today he is one of the 100 or so active members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The Festival Academy Budapest chamber music series, founded by the Hungarian violinists Katalin Kokas and Barnabás Kelemen, is to be held at various venues in the capital from July 16 to 25, including at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, the Budapest Music Centre and the Rumbach Sebestyén Street Synagogue.
Bartók Spring Series: Kelemen Quartett Concert, Budapest Music Center, 20 May

After a break of nearly three years, Kelemen Quartet takes to the stage in a new form, though Barnabás Kelemen and Katalin Kokas did not turn their backs on the genre in recent times.
