150 years ago on 17 November 1873, the city of Budapest was established by the unification of Pest, Buda and Óbuda. The origins of Budapest can be traced to the 4th century BC when the Celts occupied parts of Hungary. It was later conquered by the Roman Empire, which established the town of Aquincum around AD 100 on the site of today's city of Budapest.

A packed house of good-hearted guests from Hungary’s international community united on Bonfire Night in Budapest at XpatLoop's 23rd anniversary event to #FeelGoodDoGood. Thanks to all involved a record total of HUF 7.5+ million was raised for local charities.

The exhibition ran until December 10. House Speaker László Kövér opened an exhibition of photographs by John Sadovy about the anti-Soviet uprising of 1956 at the National Museum in Budapest.

The Netherlands and US sci-fi writer John Scalzi will be the guest of honour at this year’s International Book Festival which will also feature a roundtable of EU Literature Prize laureates between Sept 28 and Oct 1, the organisers said.
