According to the opposition Socialists, the prime minister has “admitted” that the upcoming referendum will not have any legal consequences. The Socialists have translated Orbán’s remarks in Kötcse as a request to voters “for their authorisation so that the government could represent them in Europe”.
Truck Ferry Opens In Esztergom

A Ft 1.1 billion truck ferry project connecting Esztergom with Sturovo in Slovakia has been complete. The bridge which was rebuilt in 2001 is unable to carry heavy trucks. Both governments are working to realise similar projects in the coming years, economic diplomacy state secretary of the Foreign Affairs and Trade Ministry Levente Magyar said at the opening ceremony.

Mayor of Budapest István Tarlós visited Montreal as part of a Hungarian Week organised there. Tarlós prepared plans with the local mayor Denis Coderre to sign a twinning agreement between their cities next year. The mayors attended the unveiling of a commemorative plaque in Montreal for the 1956 anti-Soviet Hungarian revolution and freedom fight.

Hungary will only take back migrants who entered the European Union in this country, the foreign minister Péter Szijjártó said, reacting to a statement by Austrian Interior Minister Wolfgang Sobotka saying that Austria would go to court if Hungary refused to take back asylum seekers obliged to request asylum in the country where they first entered the EU.
