There are restaurants in the city that people born and raised here would never think of opting for. Castle District or Váci utca? No way. Andrássy út? Only if someone truly trusted recommends it (such as The Budapest Times for example). Ráday utca? In justified exceptions.

Great wines, fine fish, a variety of mushrooms and game. Nature was generous when it comes to the Balaton region.
Xpat Review: Costes Downtown Biz Lunch
- 23 Feb 2017 1:45 AM
- food & drink
Just like you, most probably, I find some high-end restaurants a tad stuffy sometimes. You know when you’re not sure whether to have the sparkling or still water without upsetting the waiter. Well rest assured the staff at the sister restaurant of Costes are very easy-going, as well as knowledgeable and prompt, and thankfully the food lives up to the Michelin-starred reputation.

- 26 May 2016 6:56 AM
- food & drink
By Mary Murphy: The first thing that strikes you about Café Toucan is the space. It is light, airy, and relaxing, so conducive to thought and chat. You might think that the last thing this city needs is another coffee shop, especially near one near Corvin Negyed, a part of the city which must have close to a dozen such establishments with more opening every day. But Café Toucan is a little ...
Restaurant Review: Hachapuri Dishes Up Fine Dining Georgian Style In Budapest
- 25 Feb 2016 12:40 AM
- food & drink
Georgian cuisine was recently rated the 4th best in Europe by thrillist.com, making me exited to try it in the heart of Budapest. As I hadn't tried Georgian food before, I was extremely curious to see how it compares to local Hungarian cuisine, and if there are any similarities, or not, in taste and presentation.
Restaurant Review: Ecke 22 Etterem, A Humble Hungarian Hero
- 14 Oct 2015 9:00 AM
- food & drink
Tucked away on a side street off Andrássy Avenue near Heroes' Square is one of the last bastions of real Hungarian taste, with real Hungarian portions, just like the old days. The restaurant is cosy with a cave-like interior, and relaxed outdoor terrace from where you can watch the world go by - when the weather permits. The service is warm and friendly, there's a wide range of dishes, and a fair ...
Photo Article: Why Is Zeller Bistro One Of Budapest’s Top Restaurants?
- 3 Sep 2015 9:00 AM
- food & drink
There are a lot of great restaurants in Budapest with excellent food. But there are only a few places where you feel truly special. Zeller Bistro is one of these places. I’m not sure if it is the elderflower champagne, or the little cupcakes that come with the cheque, but whatever it is, it certainly works; Zeller is now one of the most popular restaurants in Budapest among both locals and ...
