Grew up in Santa Barbara California, doing a stint in the United States Air Force where they discovered I was better suited for other activities. Moved to Beverly Hills to go to college, graduating as a Doctor of Chiropractic in 1985 whereupon I moved to Stockholm for, what was meant to be, a 2 year visit. Well, here I am still traveling the world.

David B. Cornstein was appointed by President Donald Trump to serve as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Hungary. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on May 24, 2018 and presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Hungary on June 25, 2018.

I first visited Budapest in 1982. I came with some friends on the overnight train from Warsaw, where I was working at the British Embassy. Howling dogs and misty border crossings - it was like living in a John le Carré novel. Budapest was shrouded in freezing fog all weekend but I still fell in love with the city.

I was born in Budapest on 15th February 1970. At the age of five I entered the world of high performance sport as a member of KSI – Central Sports School gymnastics team. In 1986 I joined the Postás Sports Club and then, through a scholarship, continued in the USA with the University of Minnesota’s gymnastics team. It was there that I concluded my active career in elite sport.

His father Bruce was the youngest Council member of the Australian Hotels Association, whilst managing a large Hotel operation in Portland also in western Victoria, before moving his young family to Melbourne.
