A pilot scheme to promote digital tools in public education has launched in Hungary. The programme, dubbed HiperSuli, is a state-private-civil cooperation involving the human resources ministry, the education research and development institute (OFI), Microsoft Hungary, Telenor Hungary and the foundation for equal digital opportunities.

The government will provide subsidies to promote GMO-free soya production in Hungary, a farm ministry official said. Soya is one of the most important sources of animal feed protein but the type grown in 85-99% of land in the world’s leading soya producers of Brazil, Argentine and the US is genetically modified, Zsolt Feldman said.

The number of chain-smokers in Hungary has increased, reports Hungarian newspaper Magyar Nemzet. According to the data provided by the Central Statistical Office, while the number of cigarette smokers decreased from 31 percent in 2009 to 29 percent in 2014, the number of chain-smokers increased in 2014 to 28 percent of all smokers from 27 percent in 2009.

Three men who held up the flag of Hungary’s wartime fascist Arrow-Cross party were yesterday banned from all Hungarian professional football matches for periods of two to four years by the Capital Court. The incident occurred after the FTC-Újpest first-division game at the Puskás Ferenc Stadium on September 22, 2013 in the presence of nearly 1,000 fans and police.
