The International Monetary Fund raised its forecast for Hungary’s economic growth in its Regional Economic Issues report. Growth could reach 2.7% this year according to the new report. The forecast was raised from 2.3% in the previous report published in October 2014. For 2016, the IMF expects growth of 2.3%.

Almost 100 billion forints (EUR 332m) are being made available for the renovation of castles and palaces around the country, the head of the Forster Centre, which is coordinating the projects, said. A local referendum will be held in the 12th District on May 17 on a proposal to build tourist attractions in nature conservation areas in the hilly Normafa area. A forestry school, ski slopes, a ski lift, a playground, road renovations and public lighting are all included in the plan. According to the feasibility study, the project will cost Ft 6.9 billion.
