Businessman Lajos Simicska could potentially have gained direct influence in internet news portal Index.hu, as his nephew is on the board of directors of the outlet’s new owner, public news channel M1 said on Thursday. The transfer of the operations of Index to the For Hungarian Development Foundation was announced by lawyer László Bodolai, the foundation’s curator, on the website on Thursday.

Advertising tax in Hungary is set to be raised from the current 5.3% to 9% as of June, for taxpayers with revenue exceeding HUF 100 million, according to a proposed amendment submitted by Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga, Hungarian wire service MTI reported today. The amendment would also allow companies tax-free self-advertising.

I was born in Budapest on 15th February 1970. At the age of five I entered the world of high performance sport as a member of KSI – Central Sports School gymnastics team. In 1986 I joined the Postás Sports Club and then, through a scholarship, continued in the USA with the University of Minnesota’s gymnastics team. It was there that I concluded my active career in elite sport.
