Retail sales in Hungary increased by an annual 4.6 percent in August, up from 4.2 percent in July, preliminary data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) on Wednesday show. Adjusted for calendar year effects, retail sales also rose by an annual 4.6 percent.

Lending to SMEs, including the self-employed sector, expanded by 13 per cent. As a result, SME lending was able to grow on market basis following the termination of the Funding for Growth Scheme.
