First CAF Tram Presented In Budapest

The first Spanish CAF tram has been presented at the inaugural ceremony at the premises of BKV VJSZ Kft. The 34-meter-long carriage has been transported to Budapest from Spain by road transport, and is expected to start operating in Autumn, following the authority examinations.

The Budapest Spring Festival, a major event of the city’s cultural calendar, launched with a photo exhibition in the Ludwig Museum of Contemporary Art. The exhibition presents more than 200 black-and-white and colour images taken by Oscar-winning Hungarianborn cinematographer Vilmos Zsigmond in his native country and during his career in the United States.

Déli pályaudvar, one of Budapest’s three major railway hubs, reopened to rail traffic after more than two months in the early hours of Friday, meaning that trains serving the Buda stations are again running according to original schedules.

The government’s review of the construction of a section of the M4 motorway, based on the European Commission’s suspicion of cartel activity, will wind up at the end of April, deputy state secretary for development policy communications Nándor Csepreghy said. The internal review was ordered by Cabinet Chief János Lázár on March 26, and construction on the stretch was halted simultaneously.
