Plan now to attend our annual Summer Music Party featuring the renowned Gesualdo Chamber Choir of Budapest. The Choir specializes in Renaissance music as well as works from the twentieth century choral repertoire. They are frequent participants and volunteers in our Saint Margaret’s music programme.

On 20 August 2014, between 9 – 9.30 pm, fireworks will be launched from four sites (three barges and the Chain Bridge) to create the traditional ceremonial 'play of lights' in the Hungarian capital. The best downtown viewing area is on the Danube bank between Petőfi and Margaret Bridge, said an official spokesperson. Check out a video from last year below...

Saint Margaret’s Anglican Episcopal Church was founded in Hungary in 1992 by the Rev. Canon Denis Moss, a New Zealander with British roots married to a Hungarian. Canon Dennis retired in 2011, and the church has been under the leadership of Father Frank since then.

The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols was first held on Christmas Eve 1918. It was planned by Eric Milner-White, who at the age of thirty-four had just been appointed Dean of King's College, after experience as an army chaplain which had convinced him that the Church of England needed more imaginative worship.

Evening Prayer, or Evensong as it is generally called when sung, is one of the Church’s “Offices,” or official prayers. It derives from the Vespers and Compline of medieval monasteries when monks or nuns would gather to bid a prayerful farewell to the day just past and prepare for a night’s rest.

"The number of churches recognised by Parliament has risen to thirty-two. Parliament decided on the amendment of Act CCVI of 2011 on the Freedom of Conscience and Religion and the Status of Churches, Religious Denominations and Religious Communities on 27 February.
