New Data Reveals Where Most Tourists in Hungary Come From - Huge Drop in Asian Visitors
The number of guests at commercial and private tourism accommodations in Hungary edged up 0.6pc to 1,158,000 in March from the same month a year earlier, while the number of guest nights inched 0.9pc higher to 2,703,000, data released by the Central Statistics Office (KSH) on Thursday show.

The number of domestic guests rose 1.8pc to 560,000 but the number of foreign visitors inched down 0.6pc to 598,000.

The number of guest nights spent by domestic travellers increased 4.1pc to 1,217,000, while guest nights spent by foreign visitors fell 1.5pc to 1,485,000.

Visitors from Germany accounted for the largest number of guest nights: 163,000. Visitors from the UK spent 132,000 guest nights and visitors from Italy 124,000. Guest nights spent by travellers from Asia dropped 34.5pc to 147,000.

Gross revenue of tourism accommodations rose 3.0pc to HUF 71.2bn.

A total of 19,362 tourism accommodations hosted guests in March, including 17,186 private and other accommodations.

In January-March, the number of guests at tourism accommodations rose 3.1pc to 3,293,000. Guest nights increased 2.7pc to 7,492,000.
