The Innovation Awards were handed out this week in the Hungarian parliament. One award went to Szabolcs Kun, CEO of Arenim Technologies, makers of the encryption software CryptTalk, reports RTL Klub. Ironically, CryptTalk’s Hungarian clients may end up in prison for two years if Hungary’s Ministry of the Interior has its way.

The European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg has ruled that the Hungarian state must pay Ft 800,000 each to Erzsébet Gy. Németh and Szilvia Kovács Frank. Both were Socialist MPs until 2010 and collected severance pay, which the Orbán cabinet punished by imposing a 98% special tax on it.

Choral conductor Peter Broadbent and architect Sándor Váci have been awarded the Order of Merit of the Hungarian Republic, Officer’s Cross at an event marking the Day of Hungarian Culture in London. The awards granted at the Hungarian embassy are to recognise their work promoting Hungarian culture and Hungarian-British relations in the UK.
