The General Assembly of Budapest has approved the master plan for the 2024 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Budapest, there were 21 votes in favour, 1 against and 9 absent. The assembly members have also accepted the guarantee letter to be submitted to the International Olympic Committee.

Budapest has submitted the first part of its application to host the 2024 Olympic Games to the International Olympic Committee, Balázs Fürjes, the government commissioner for the bid, announced. The application was submitted on Tuesday, one day before the official deadline. Hungary’s parliament voted in July to support the Hungarian capital’s bid to host the 2024 event.
