Consumer prices in Hungary fell by an annual 0.1 percent in August, dropping for the fourth month in a row, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Thursday. The decline slowed from 0.3 percent in July. CPI dropped on a 4.1 percent fall in prices for the category of goods that includes vehicle fuel.

Retail sales in Hungary climbed by 5.7 percent in June from the same month a year earlier, preliminary data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) on Wednesday show. Retail sales also rose by 5.7 percent year on year when adjusted for calendar year effects. The pace slowed from an unadjusted 6.8 percent and was unchanged from a calendar-year-adjusted 5.7 percent rise in May.

The average gross wage in Hungary was 264,471 forints (EUR 845) in April, up by 6.4% from the same month a year earlier, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said. Net wage growth outpaced the increase, rising by 8.0% to 175,874 forints, because of a one percentage point cut in the personal income tax rate, to 15%, from January.
