Mr Iain Lindsay OBE has been appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Hungary in succession to Mr Jonathan Knott, who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment. Mr Lindsay will take up his appointment during January 2016. Mr Lindsay has been Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain since 2011.

Ms Theresa Bubbear has been appointed Chargé d'Affaires Ad Interim to Hungary. She took up her appointment on 27 April. She will succeed former British Ambassador to Hungary, Mr Jonathan Knott, who finished his posting on 26 April 2015. Theresa will lead the Embassy until the arrival of the new Ambassador to Hungary in early 2016.

So far police have arrested 33 people at the Budapest Sziget Festival on drug-related charges and suspicion of theft. Budapest’s police chief Gábor Bucsek told a news conference on Thursday that among the detained was a drug dealer, a wanted man and someone who stole tents.
