The Constitutional Court yesterday struck down lower court rulings which rejected a request for access to data related to an audit of the State Opera. Tamás Bodoky, editor of the transparency website Atlatszo.hu, asked the National Resources Ministry for access to a report by a ministerial commissioner on the audit of the Opera two years ago.

Hungarians are more reluctant to report corruption than any other Europeans, according to a Transparency International survey. Only 30% of respondents said they would report corruption if they experienced it. Among the 70% who would not, 41% say reporting makes no difference and 21% say they are afraid of repercussions.
