Xpat Opinion: Hidden Budapest: Gasworks Part 2

From the bike (or car) road to the right of Auchan (Jegtoro u.) just before the intersection with the Infopark, one can see buildings that, from afar, seem to be in the same style of those I discovered a few weeks ago further down the road as part of the old Obuda Gasworks Residential Estate. On my way back from my bike ride yesterday I explored the area, and was correct.
Xpat Opinion: Obuda Gas Factory - A Cool Place To Explore

I have been cycling up to Romai Part and Szentendre for years, and have always loved the four water and coal-clock towers at the old gas works. Luckily they have managed to survive (so far) the reconstruction of the old chemical works as an industrial park. In 1908 a municipal decision was made to replace several obsolete gas factories with a single new facility.
Xpat Opinion: A Few Days In Balatonakarattya

By Treehugger Dan: My weekend plans getting cancelled turned out for the best, as Chris and Nora invited me down to Balaton for a couple days. The family summer cottage has a fantastic view of Balaton. Built in 1969 before Markovecz was well-known, the layout is unusual in its family-centered design, and nothing at all like his later environmental designs incorporating living trees into the ...
Xpat Opinion: Romai At Night - By Treehugger Dan

Last Friday a friend and I went cycling at night to Romai part. I normally go early in the morning, but it was really lovely at night. We got a bit re-routed through the Sziget Festival crowds around the Filatorigat HEV stop (which gets its name from an 18th century threat factory at the location), but it was not a real problem.
Xpat Opinion: 2 Weekends At Balatonalmadi in Hungary

by Trehhuger Dan: Akos and Nori were kind enough to invite me down again to Balaton for the weekend. I have been waiting all year for the seasonal opening of the langos place at the old Budatava Beach in Balatonalmadi. Laliba's langos is the best at Balaton, and second best in Hungary only to the Hunyadi ter langos. We are now recognised as regulars and get special service, not having to wait in ...
A Weekend In Borsod County By Treehugger Dan

Chris, Nora and Gabi came down to the house this weekend. It was chill-out time for them, while I also had to try to deal with the large snake I almost stepped on three weeks ago in the stables. In the morning I whipped up a batch of my famous blueberry pancakes. A friendly expert from Aggtelek National Park came around noon and looked for signs, but did not find anything.
Xpat Report By Treehugger Dan: Danube Dinner Cruise

"Yesterday was a wonderful day, topped off by a Danube dinner cruise for a late birthday present from my friend Margo, joined by Gica and Mark. Guests meet at the Duna Palota on Zrinyi u. at 6:30pm from where the guides take you to the boat. I have never heard of the Duna Palota before, but it appears to be a kind of cultural and concert center.
