Before Monday, 1 March, my only connection with the little country in the southwestern UK was a joke t-shirt I once had with the logo 'Save the Wales' emblazoned across its chest. And I watched the Welsh rugby side beat England at Twickenham a few years ago. Otherwise, nothing. So I was flattered to be recently invited to the first ever St. David’s Day celebration here in Budapest.

"The Caledonia Bar are teaming up with Instant on Nagymezo to bring you an extra special St Patrick's Day on Wednesday 17 March. The Caledonia will serve up a great Paddys Day Menu, washed down with Guinness and a selection of 20 Irish whiskies.

"Bottlehugger Ben and I (Treehugger Dan) were very happy to get an invite from XpatLoop.com to attend their wine tasting with Izabella Zwack last night (June 30) at the Radisson SAS Béke Hotel on Terez Krt. Yes, it is Izabella's family that is also responsible for Unicum.
