The Pálinka Bonbon of the Year competition will be announced again this year as an accompanying event to the 25th Gyula Pálinka Festival.

As they wrote, entries are open until April 30; not only domestic but also foreign businesses can apply, the condition is that they have a tax number.

According to the announcement, you can enter with handmade pálinka bonbons made with cream filling, and since the fruit of the year at the festival this year will be cherries, sweets made using cherry pálinka will be judged separately, and the best handmade pálinka bonbons made in educational institutions will compete in a separate category.

This year, the competition will also include a new bonbon category, which can include not only pálinka, but also gin, liqueur, geist, rum, whiskey or exotic fruit produced in Hungary.

On May 8, the professional jury will judge the bonbons on, among other things, their appearance, structure, creaminess, seasoning, creativity and overall impression. Based on this, gold, silver and bronze ratings will be awarded.

The aim of the competition is to promote the common culinary enjoyment values of Hungarian pálinka as a national drink and quality chocolates.

Another aim is to promote professional cooperation between Hungarian artisan chocolate workshops, confectioneries, restaurants producing confectionery products, and companies producing quality fruit pálinkas.

Two years ago, the competition was announced for the first time, with 107 entries, and last year, 133.

The results will be announced on June 7th, at the 25th Gyula Pálinka Festival, they say.
