Budapest Council Approves Twinning With Szekler City

The municipal assembly has approved a twinning agreement proposal between Budapest and Odorheiu Secuiesc (Székelyudvarhely), a city in Romania’s Szekler Land. According to the draft, twinning between the two cities is symbolic, creating a link between the “capital of the nation” and the “Szekler capital”.

Hungary’s CSOK housing subsidy scheme is growing in popularity, reports online daily napi.hu. Introduced at the beginning of 2016, to date some HUF 56 billion (USD 207 million) worth of new housing subsidies have been paid out to some 27,000 families according to Katalin Novák, undersecretary for family, youth, and international matters at the Ministry for Human Resources.

Meanwhile the popularity of the agglomeration has been decreasing: the annual 0,5% growth of the population is way behind the 2,4% rate of the years following the turn of the millennium.
