Chamber Thursday: Napfonat, Trafó Budapest, 21 October
Napfonat is an energetic, women’s a capella ensemble, filled out with percussion instruments. Five separate voices weave together to create so much more. Napfonat searches for answers to ancient questions working from the common basis of Hungarian and other peoples’ music.

Their polyphonic unit sometimes sounds with the energy of a chorus, other times a soft individual voice comes forward. The harmony of the five voices is accompanied by elemental rhythm. Napfonat’s vibrant songs come from the varied backgrounds of the five women.

They are representatives of separately exciting musical worlds and cultures: From Slovakia to Russia, and pop to experimental jazz.

They perform their own compositions and arrangements of Hungarian and other cultures’ folk songs dressed in polyphonic sound. They have conquered the Hungarian world music stages and performed as guests at Palya Bea concerts at the Akvárium (Budapest).

They were amongst the winners at “Hangfoglaló 2020”. Their first recording entitled “Szol a világ” was released in May of 2021.
Place: Trafó Budapest
