In the Name of Cats, National Dance Theatre Budapest, 10 October
"I want a cat. I want a cat now. If I can’t have long hair or any fun, I can have a cat.” (Ernest Hemingway)

A favourite pet, a free, independent, eccentric animal that can be useful or just useless, lovable or hateful; yet the cat is often seen in literature, music, theatre and even in dance.

The cat, which has several lives, seven, or sometimes nine, has often inspired great artists like Hemingway, Kosztolányi, Örkény, T.S. Eliot, Tchaikovsky, Rossini, Fauré, Scarlatti and many others.

Our story is delivered in dance (movement), prose and musical forms about cat and man, about independence, freedom, about the relationship between man and cat, using works by well-known and lesser-known authors, poets and composers.

Cats are secretive and mysterious. Cats are exactly like us, humans.

An incomplete list of cat types: urban cats, rural cats, factory cats, wandering or travelling cats, the neighbour’s cats, vegetarian cats, cartoon cats, etc.
Place: National Dance Theatre Budapest
Address: 1024 Budapest, Kis Rókus u. 16-20.
