Gallery Concert – Opera on the Organ, National Concert Hall Budapest, 4 May
Let’s imagine the opera house is just a few steps from the church, because tonight is the night the organ pipes will bring the most thrilling moments of opera to life.

The organist István Mátyás, a lecturer at the Music Academy in Vienna, worked for years as a musical assistant to the Theater an der Wien.

For his gallery recital, excerpts from the operas of Mozart, Wagner, Bizet, Humperdinck, Puccini, and Britten will get a new lease on life thanks to sparkling transcriptions by Jonathan Scott, Edwin Lemare, Anna Lapwood and the performer himself.

The lighting in the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall will create a unique visual experience where the dramatic tension of the space will encounter the near-infinite colours of the instrument with spectacular effect.

With the canopy lowered and the imposing sound of the organ experienced from the gallery, the audience is guaranteed to become wrapped up in the drama.
