'BCCH Easter Happy Hour', art’otel, 1 April
- 30 Mar 2010 6:00 AM
Easter, as we all know, is one of the most important annual religious feast in the Christian liturgical year, and celebrates the resurrection of Jesus. As for folk traditions associated with this holiday, most of us are familiar with the Hungarian Easter bunny, eggs, ham, and the somewhat odd but definitely fun practice of watering the girls on Easter Monday. But how is Easter celebrated in Britain?
Much the same way as here. With Easter eggs and treats delivered by the Easter bunny, with a traditional Sunday roast of either roast lamb or ham, and with special Easter breads and cakes (such as hot cross buns, which are spiced buns with a cross on top). In Scotland, the North of England, and Northern Ireland, the traditions of rolling decorated eggs down steep hills and pace egging are still adhered to.
Join us this year on the Thursday before Easter to celebrate together at art'otel, who have generously agreed to co-host this event with us.
