900 More Police From Thursday In Hungary
"A total of 900 new police officers will begin work as of April 1, Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai and National Police chief József Bencze announced at the inauguration of 168 fresh police graduates in the First District on Tuesday, atv.hu reported.

Bajnai said law and order must prevail, adding that despite the austerity measures, Ft 7 billion more has been allocated to public safety.

Hungary faces its most complex public safety challenge because of a rise in extremists, Bajnai told the inauguration ceremony.

He said the division of the last decade has whipped up passions, and as a result extremists are now blatantly threatening Hungary’s democratic system. The law must prevail in Hungary, and the government measures of the last few years to increase public safety serve that end, Bajnai added.

The cabinet had eight years to create law and order in Hungary, Fidesz deputy spokesman András Cser-Palkovics responded in a statement."
