U.S. Embassy Supports Music Against Racism
"Addressing a crowd of concert goers at the Budapest Gödör Club on March 21, Ambassador Kounalakis discussed how change is possible citing the example of President Obama’s ability to reach the highest office in the United States while his father could not eat at the same counter with his white colleagues in the 1960’s.

The Zene A Rasszmisus Ellen or ZARE music festival was the climax of a weeklong professional program and one of 13 concerts around Hungary playing under the ZARE banner on the International Day Against Racism.

The aim of ZARE is to take a stand against racism and through the language of music promote tolerance and respect for the rights and equality of all people. The Embassy provided a grant to help support ZARE which furthers the goals of the Embassy’s tolerance campaign."
