'Megadeth', Barba Negra, Budapest, 9 June
After more than a decade, there will be another standalone Megadeth concert in Budapest: on June 9th, the legendary American band will play at Barba Negra.

The band will present their 2022, sixteenth studio album on the Red Stage.

The album "The Sick, The Dying... And The Dead!" marks the end of challenging years in the band's history: not only the pandemic affecting everyone, but also throat cancer attacking Dave Mustaine, resulting in canceled tours and the treatments associated with it made everyday life difficult for the band.

Mustaine founded the band at the age of 21, shortly after leaving Metallica, and their music has been defined by the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal style from the beginning, but with an even faster tempo, excellent instrumental skills, and almost punk-like aggression.

Megadeth is considered one of the founding fathers of thrash metal alongside the Big Four. The band, which has sold over 50 million records, has several platinum records to their name and was also awarded a Grammy in 2017 after numerous nominations.

Over the 40 years of Megadeth's existence, numerous musicians have played alongside Dave, with the most recent official member being guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari, who joins from Wintersun and has already performed live with the band last fall.

Festival season is hotting up in Hungary, so here's a guide to what's worth visiting for a one-off concert or a week long party in the open air. The biggie is always Sziget, this year with Billie Eilish and Sleaford Mods headlining, but it’s worth considering the more niche, boutique bashes like V4, SZIN, Katlan, OZORA, and the cultish Kolorádó in the Buda hills.
