6th Mangalica Festival In Budapest, This Weekend
- 7 Feb 2013 11:00 AM
Entry is free, so if you fancy a taste of a pig that came close to extinction just a few decades ago, pop along for a bite of magnificent mangalica meat - said to be tastier and healthier than regular pork. As you may know, this festival is named after a delicious furry pig that's indigenous to Hungary, this year the event is held again at Szabadság tér in downtown Budapest, between 8-10 February.
This annual mangalica feast features Hungarian folk music and dance performances, along with plenty of this Hungarian heritage breed, both alive and processed - mainly in the form of sausages and salami, but roast mangalica is always available, plus there is also a cooking contest.
