Simicska Wins Public Funds “Prize” In Hungary
LMP has awarded a “Golden Wheelbarrow” prize to businessman Lajos Simicska as “the most successful collector of public funds,” the party announced.

MP Katalin Ertsey held a press briefing on Friday outside the headquarters of distribution and outdoor advertising company Mahir Magyar Hirdetõ, owned by the former Fidesz party treasurer.

Ertsey claimed that Simicska has received over €1 billion in public funds since 2010 in consortiums or through his construction company Közgép alone.

After being told that Simicska was not in the building, Ertsey tossed the plaque into the mailbox.

Közgép has won a Ft 249.5 million contract to renovate the water drainage at the state-owned Paks nuclear power plant, the official gazette Napi Gazdaság reports.

The original cost estimate was Ft 175 million and it is unacceptable that overpriced projects are mostly won by companies owned by Simicska or his associate Zsolt Nyerges, said Dialogue for Hungary MP Benedek Jávor.
