Hungarian Police Officers Beat Romanian To Death
Two police officers have been arrested in Bács county for beating to death a Romanian who had been detained for stealing an electric saw. County prosecutors spokeswoman Csilla Gyugyi confirmed that the victim had died of a beating at the hands of police. HVG reports that the incident happened at the Izsák police station.

The Kiskõrös police chief fired the two police officers with immediate effect on Tuesday. The commanders of the Izsák and Kiskõrös police stations were also dismissed.

National Police chief Károly Papp confirmed that the 47-year-old detainee was a Romanian citizen. He had a Hungarian residence permit.
