- 9 Aug 2013 9:00 AM
Honey Brittle Cake from Milota (a small village in Hungary) was the winner of the "Cake of Hungary" (Ország Tortája) competition this year. One can have the pleasure to taste the delicious cake during the Magyar Izek Utcaja (Street of Hungarian Flavours) event on the 19th and 20th of August. Later on it will be available in most of the country’s confectioneries.
The winning cake has two kinds of crème: a layer of praline and a layer of honey, which are separated by a crunchy walnut brittle layer.
In the sugar-free category, the special apple-layered red-currant cake won the gold medal, which is definitely a healthy option, approved by the Hungarian Dietetic Association.
