Budapest Still Trying To Avoid Congestion Charge

The fee imposed on vehicles entering the city centre is due to be introduced by 2015 as a condition of EU funding for the fourth metro line. However a three-member delegation from Budapest is on its way to Brussels in an attempt to avoid or postpone the introduction of such a charge.
Budapest mayor István Tarlós told Inforádió last Monday that a congestion fee will have to be introduced here sooner or later, since the EU continues to insist on it. Tarlós reiterated that he hopes the fourth metro line will be ready by late March.
