WAMP Design Fair Returns To Millenáris, Budapest, From October 13

To open the autumn-winter season, WAMP is moving to the Buda side. From October 13, Budapest’s largest sunday design fair will be held at the old/new venue, Millenáris, only a stone’s throw from Széll Kálmán Square, awaiting the fans of design and unique objects on almost 4000 m². In addition to the well-known designers, there will be some new exhibitors and some new programme elements. Naturally, the WAMP gastro section will be featured again, along with the wide selection of clothes, accessories, jewellery, bags and useful objects you have come to expect.
There will be two WAMP fairs in October, one in November and three in December, as it has become our tradition in the past few years.
WAMP+ returns
WAMP has invited applications again to participate in the WAMP+ section of the design fair, in an open process. WAMP+ offers the opportunity for designers whose work is exceptionally high quality (altogether 16 designers in one season) to participate as VIP exhibitors in the fair at a lower cost.
In the winter 2013 WAMP+ section, the jury has decided to award the opportunity to some well-known brands regularly featured at WAMP, e.g. Urban Legend, which blurs the line between cycling gear and urban wear, Lazlo known for their special women’s collections, or MIMM, whose designers rethink the exceptionally rich Hungarian folk tradition by creating jewellery using the traditional motifs.
Rita Koralevics, who makes wonderful objects from paper and Lázár Vero, who creates unique silver jewellery will be new designers in the section.
Designer of the month: Gabo Szerencses
Gabriella Szerencsés is Hungarian designer with a refreshing sense of style. Her collections are understated, classic, but progressive at the same time. Her clothes are made from high quality fabric, using clever cuts. The lines are classic, feminine but also refined and elegant. Each garment has a typical ’Gabo’ detail, such as an unusual neckline, an unexpected colour combination or bold use of materials. In addition to the unique clothes, the brand also offers other weapons of seduction for women, too, such as clever bags that can be worn in multiple ways or gloves with special decorations. Programmes for children
The Bilimbo activity centre awaits toddlers and kindergarteners, with Montessori toys. There will also be puppet shows featuring animals, goblins, mice and kittens from the tales of Vlagyimir Szutyejev, Erwin Moser and La Fontaine to entertain our youngest visitors.
Starting from October 13, visitors will have to buy ’WAMPER’ coupons worth 500 HUF to be able to enter the fair, the total amount of which will be deducted from your purchases at the fair. WAMPERS can be used for purchases at any fair until December 31, 2013.
