Hungary Is A Big Beneficiary Of The 2014-2020 EU Budgetary Framework
Hungary is a big beneficiary of the 2014-2020 EU budgetary framework and is among the first three member states that the next common budget favours the most, a government official said on Monday. Hungary has considerably improved its position concerning the budget and its “net position”, a balance of funding available and contributions to be paid, has significantly improved, Enikő Győri, foreign ministry’s state secretary for EU affairs, told a press conference after briefing parliament’s EU affairs committee.

She noted that last week the European Parliament approved the EU’s next budget that the heads of state and government adopted in February this year. The sum for the next budgetary period totalling 960 billion euros has shrunk compared to 2007-2013, she noted.

Still, Hungary is one of the main beneficiaries as a recipient of the second-highest per-capita allocation, she added.

Whereas the global figure of the next seven-year budgetary framework proposed by the European Commission has gone down by 7%, thanks to Hungary’s “tough talks” in Brussels, the country will receive 3.5% more than the amount the commission originally earmarked, Győri said.
