Hungary’s National Bank To Sign Ft 6bn Contract For PR
The MNB has invited bids in a Ft 6 billion public procurement tender for communications in what will be the largest contract ever seen in Hungary’s PR sector, the Public Procurement Gazette reveals. The previous record was the Ft 2.5 billion communications contract for the state debt management company in 2011.

The MNB is seeking a media firm to handle general communication tasks, particularly its funding for growth programme.

The Together-Dialogue alliance called the sheer size of the tender “scandalous” and urged MNB governor György Matolcsy to withdraw it.

As the target audience of the MNB’s funding for growth plan is banks, rather than the general public, the reason why the MNB wishes to spend so much on advertising is not obvious, Népszabadság observes.
