The Return Of Loulou Restaurant In Budapest
- 20 Nov 2013 8:00 AM
Restaurant Loulou wrote the biggest chapter in the “Great Book” of Hungarian gastro-history in the 90’s and early 00’s. Mr. Karoly Rudits, who was running this legendary restaurant, made a firm decision to lay the foundation stone of top gastronomy in Hungary.
Mr. Rudits became well-know with the first fine dining restaurant in Budapest, called Gourmet. Later on, in 1996 he founded his own restaurant. It was Loulou.
Mr. Rudits did his best, which was evident in the fact that Loulou soon became the flagship of Hungarian top gastronomy. He constantly followed the news in international gastro-magazines and regularly visited the best restaurants all over the world. Meanwhile, he created his own style in which obvious but harmonious flavours prevailed.
The hard work bore fruit in 2006-2007 when Loulou was said to be - by experts and the public as well –the aspirant to the first Hungarian Michelin star. At that time Loulou led all the gastro top lists in Hungary, but the Michelin star did not arrive. And in 2009 - at the peak of its success - Loulou abruptly closed down.
But now - like a phoenix - Loulou was reborn in Szekely Mihaly street number 2. in the 6th district of Budapest. The newly-opened LouLou is a “top bistro” serving mostly classic French cuisine combined with traditional grandma’s kitchen in a lighter form.
Mr. Rudits has re-dreamt a low-key but extremely elegant place where the triad of cuisine, service and interior design define the restaurant. It looks as an imaginary lady who enslaves her admirer with her simple beauty, her charm without mannerism and her irresistible internal charisma. As this renewed restaurant – Loulou - enslaves the admirer of the culinary art.
