Hungary's Socialist Party President: Gov’t Is Ignoring The Poor
A Socialist government would discontinue the present “idiotic” economic policy, as well as the “perverse” social policy, Socialist Party president Attila Mesterházy said yesterday as he presented the Pest county parliamentary candidates of the Socialists and Together-Dialogue.

The government-imposed cuts in utility fees are unsustainable, he declared, as service providers have gone bankrupt in some villages.

His party would introduce a more fair system, he added, so that the poor would benefit most from lower household energy rates.

Regarding the government’s plans to spend Ft 12 billion on new stadiums, Mesterházy said 470,000 children are starving in Hungary when the price of one stadium could solve this problem.
