Investigative Committee In Hungary On NSA Eavesdropping Led By Fidesz Lawmaker
Fidesz lawmaker Máté Kocsis will head the eight-member parliamentary investigative committee which has been tasked with providing a report by March 18 on the impact of US eavesdropping in Hungary.

Among its tasks will be to determine whether the NSA wiretapped people in the political and economic spheres or public figures. It will also seek to discover what the goal of any information-gathering was as well as who were the targets.

Further, it will examine what tools may have been used to influence the country’s sovereignty, what kind of data could have been picked up by the American agency and whether there were any signs from Hungarian news-gathering organisations of information concerning any possible intention to exert an influence from abroad.

Parliament decided on setting up the committee last Tuesday.
