More Details from MTI:
The Budapest based club announced on Monday that the 44-year-old Irish coach will take over the management of the team following the departure of Pascal Jansen.
According to the FTC website, Keane brought two of his assistants with him, assistant coach Rory Delap and match analyst Phill Hudson, who arrived in Budapest on Sunday evening. They will travel to join the team, who are currently training in Spain, on Tuesday.
Regarding the Dutch coach appointed last summer, the club president Gábor Kubatov revealed last week that one of the world's largest football concerns had bought him out of his contract, which is why Ferencváros had to look for a new head coach.
On the fradi.hu website, the new coach said that he is aware that Ferencváros is a good team, but what does that actually mean?
"Can you play exciting, energetic football that the fans like? This is the path I want to take so that the fans enjoy my team's game. It is important that the players understand that it is not enough to win one or two games, you have to win every game. No matter who we play against, we have to show exciting football ," said Keane - who believes that the most important thing for him is that the club is for the people.
He added that the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson told him not to choose a club, but fans.
Keane also highlighted that he is very excited to be here and that the real work will start in Spain.
"We need to attract people, to do that we need to come up with a good game. Of course I know what I want to achieve, because everyone wants to win, but first I need to get to know the players and their mentality ," he said.
Keane, capped 146 times, spent the most defining period of his nearly twenty-year playing career at Tottenham Hotspur, but also played for teams such as Liverpool, Internazionale and Leeds United.
He began his coaching career as an assistant with the Irish national team, and has only worked as a head coach with Maccabi Tel Aviv. He won the championship with the Israeli team last year, but left his position in the summer.
Ferencváros will be in training camp in Spain until next Wednesday, and will play their first match of the year on January 23, when they will host German Eintracht Frankfurt in the penultimate round of the regular season of the second-tier European Cup series.
FTC is in second place in the league, one point behind the leaders Puskás Academy, but has played one game less than its rival from Felcsút.
