EIT Opens Innovation Community Hub in Hungary
The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) has opened a community hub for innovation in Budapest, the organisation told MTI.

The EIT Community Regional Innovation Scheme (RIS) Hub is part of a European network that extends to nearly 20 countries.

EIT said its hubs serve as a one-stop shop for local stakeholders in the countries in which they are established. Their main mission is to ease access to knowledge and innovation support and identify synergies between the EIT Community and local actors.

They strengthen local entrepreneurship and build bridges between local and EU innovation networks.

EIT was established in 2008, it is a part of Horizon Europe, the EU’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.

Meanwhile, ministry, chamber cooperation aims to make economy more knowledge-rich

The cooperation between the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK) and the Culture and Innovation Ministry aims to make the economy more knowledge-rich, Balazs Hanko, the head of the portfolio, said ahead of a meeting of the Business Innovation Council on Monday.

Hanko noted that higher, vocational and continuing education, along with R+D+I, had been renewed in recent years with the goal of making the Hungarian economy more competitive. Now universities work together with local economic players, he added.

He said vocational education had been fine-tuned to the needs of the economy and the labour market thanks to cooperation with the MKIK.

Elek Nagy, who heads MKIK, said a knowledge-based chamber would help businesses advance to a technology-intensive phase, boosting their competitiveness.

He added that the chamber would survey businesses to determine how vocational and continuing education could be improved and innovation strengthened.
