Brussels Examines Hungary’s Paks Deal
- 7 Feb 2014 2:00 AM
Experts of the European Commission have started to examine the Hungary- Russia deal on the Paks nuclear power plant from the point of view of whether it accords with EU rules on public procurement, Chantal Hughes, the spokesperson for the Commissioner for Internal Market and Services told MTI.
In January, Sabine Berger, spokesperson for the energy commissioner, said that Hungary had fulfilled its obligation by handing in what was at the time the planned accord on upgrading Paks.
Lawmakers approved on Thursday Hungary’s deal with Russia for a 10 billion euro loan to finance the Paks upgrade.
