Hungary’s Left Wing To Organise Demo Against Paks Nuclear Deal
- 7 Feb 2014 2:00 AM
Hungary’s left wing will organise a torchlight demonstration to the presidential palace for Monday, where representatives will ask President János Áder not to sign the law on the Hungary-Russia accord on upgrading the Paks nuclear power plant.
Gordon Bajnai, leader of the E-PM alliance, told commercial TV2 that the aim of the protest was to try to persuade the president not to sign “a parliamentary decision which is against the interests of the nation”.
He added that if he were now prime minister, once background studies had been prepared, he’d “publish these and launch a debate lasting at least 2-3 years”.
